
ABOUT LAST WEEK: The Black Bears welcomed the Rochester Jr. Americans in a spirited match-up that the Black Bears were able to sweep thanks to a win on Friday and shootout win on Saturday. Both Colin Ronan and Owen Lepak notched wins on the weekend, while Adam Schankula registered three assists and Trayce Johnson had a goal and two assists.
TREMBLAY TRIUMPHANT: After almost a month away due to injury, Jeremi Tremblay returned to the line-up on Saturday and notched two goals and a shootout goal during the Black Bears win. Tremblay leads the team with 10 goals and has notched those in only nine games.
WISH WE HAD JESSE’S GOAL: Jesse Horacek has a knack for opening up the scoring for Maryland. Of his eight goals on the year, four of them have been the opening goal for the Black Bears. In three of the last four games, Horacek has been the opening goal-scorer and of the four opening goals; three have been during wins.
SIGN ME TENDER: Maryland announced this week that they had signed Harrison Smith from Team Maryland’s 18U AAA team to a tender contract. A native of Wellington, Florida, Smith has notched 31 goals and 53 points in 31 games with Team Maryland so far this season. Smith also brings a solid hockey IQ to the table and is still learning as a 2006 birth year.
ATTACK ON TITANS: Maryland welcomes the New Jersey Titans to Piney Orchard for Veteran’s Day weekend and Military Appreciation weekend. Maryland swept New Jersey in the only other meeting of the year up in Middletown. While these teams play tight in every match-up, Maryland is slightly behind with a 22-28-6 record all-time against New Jersey.
